Just a reminder to everyone out there, it may be possible for you to be reimbursed for your music therapy services by third-party health insurance providers. While not a typical or “core” service, some insurance providers will pay for music therapy when medical necessity of music therapy can be shown for an individual client, as well as a few other circumstances. Don’t know how? Well, the reimbursement committee is finalizing a revised Power Point presentation that can be used to teach reimbursement basics to MT students and interns, and we’ll be working to share information from music therapists who have made successful insurance claims through a survey.
